In order to discuss my most beloved stories and books that have affected and inspired me throughout my life I would have to start as a child because I always have loved reading.
Fairy tales were my favourite thing at one point but mostly the old original Andersen and Grimm’s tales I found in my grandmother’s house which was filled with books. These fairy tales were really meant for adults when written and would not have been considered…..
When I was 3, my father and mother decided to move here from the prairies. It was for Mom’s sake, who was raised in Toronto and Aurora areas.
But my Dad never regretted the move. “It’s a beautiful province,” he would say. “It has every kind of landscape – it is never dull.”
I agree. From the Great Lakes, which are the greatest group of lakes in the world, to scenic farmlands, small mountain ranges, numerous rivers and smaller…..
Because the year is 1850 there have been famines in Ireland and many people in Europe have been looking toward the New Country across the sea for the hope of a new life.
Although life is somewhat better in England in the countryside, land is divided up between the sons and the parcels become smaller and smaller through the generations. Even in the noble classes the younger sons often receive little inheritance and look abroad for a brighter tomorrow.

Why did I choose to write from the ghost’s perspective? – One might ask!
In answer to this question that may come from a reporter or reader:
This question presumes that this was my choice. As previously stated in my bio, I felt very connected to the 1800’s (time period) as I researched and wrote “The Belle of Collingwood”. And that the book seemed to ‘write itself”. Perhaps I had a co-creator working with me!

I was born in Killarney, Manitoba and moved with my parents and sister from the prairies to Toronto by train in 1952 when I was three. Though an imaginative shy child, I was also given to performance and oration. And I read voraciously, especially children’s adventure and wolf stories.
In high school, English teachers recognized a writing ability and were encouraging. I was not a particularly good student in other subjects as I was often dreaming in class and living…..
